NUMBER ONE [2]. AKA and see "Duke's Retreat," "Few Bob (The)." English, Hornpipe? (4/4 time). England; Cumbria, Northumberland. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune under the title "Number One" was entered into the large 1840 music manuscript collection of multi-instrumentalist John Rook (Waverton, Cumbria). "Number One (1)," collected in County Antrim by Breandan Breathnach, is a version of this tune. An almost identical tune to "Number One (1)" was printed in London in the first decade of the 19th century as "Duke's Retreat."
