O'CAROLAN'S LAMENT (Uaill-Cuma Uí Cearballain). Irish, Air (3/4 time, "mournfull"). D Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. A contribution by Sergeant James O'Neill to O'Neill's Music of Ireland (1903), although its actual connection with harper Turlough O'Carolan is unknown. Several airs in O'Neill's collection were associated or attributed to Carolan, although the provenance of several is in doubt.

Source for notated version: Chicago Police Sergeant James O'Neill, a fiddler originally from County Down and Francis O'Neill's collaborator [O'Neill].

Printed sources: O'Neill (Music of Ireland: 1850 Melodies), 1903; No. 69, p. 12.
