O'RAFFERTY AND HIS BOTTLE. American, Jig (6/8 time). G Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. The 6/8 time jigs in the Pepper collection are all labelled "Irish Jig" to differentiate them from the "straight jig", a duple-time, lightly syncopated, dance tune like a reel. The Pepper 6/8 jigs are not from actual Irish sources, with a few exceptions, but are probably American journeyman compositions in the style. This one even has the stereotypical title of the alcoholic Irishman, but the melody has no hint of Irish character.
