OLD TIME JOHN HENRY. AKA and see "John Henry Blues." American, Song and Reel. A Major. AEae tuning (fiddle). Earl Johnson and His Dixie Entertainers recorded a string band version of the American folk song in 192. Picking up on the popularity of 'blues' tunes, they (like others in the 78 RPM era) appended the name 'blues' to the title.
