OUTLAW OF THE HILLS, THE (An dibeartac na cnuicib). Irish, Slow Air (4/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB.

Source for notated version: "Hartnett" [O'Neill]. Chicago police Sergeant Michael Hartnett was a neighbor of Chief O'Neill's and the source of numerous airs for O'Neill's Music of Ireland (1903). Born in Munster near the Cork/Kerry/Limerick border, Hartnett was noted as a dancer of the "old school." Hartnett was one of O'Neill's sources who does not appear in the c. 1900 photograph of Chicago's Irish Music Club.

Printed sources: O'Neill (Music of Ireland: 1850 Melodies), 1903; No. 197, p. 34.
