Source for notated version: "Hartnett" [O'Neill]. Chicago police Sergeant Michael Hartnett was a neighbor of Chief O'Neill's and the source of numerous airs for O'Neill's Music of Ireland (1903). Born in Munster near the Cork/Kerry/Limerick border, Hartnett was noted as a dancer of the "old school." Hartnett was one of O'Neill's sources who does not appear in the c. 1900 photograph of Chicago's Irish Music Club.
