PARTING KISS [2], THE. English, Air (3/4 time). G Major (Oswald): A Major (Hughes). Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. "The Parting Kiss [2]" was a song printed in Apollo's Banquet; or The Muses Delight[1] (London, 1756, p. 208). A version of the air was entered into the 1823 music manuscript collection of R. Hughes, Whitchurch, Shropshire. The first stanza goes:

One kind Kiss before we part,
Drop a Tear and bid adieu;
Tho’ we fever my fond Heart shall pant for you.
Till we meet shall pant for you, shall pant for you.
