PATINS DE PAULINE, LES (Pauline’s Skates). French-Canadian, Jig (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by Québec singer and guitarist André Marchand, who told Susan Songer (Portland Collection) that it was in memory of the long skating excursions on Joliette’s Assumption River, “which he shared with a charming companion.” Fiddler Pascal Gemme (Genticorum) says the tune has been popular in Montréal sessions.

For another ice skating tune, see Claude Méthé's "L'ange aux patins."
