PEACOCK’S FANCY [2]. AKA and see "Peacock's Feathers (4)." Scottish, Hornpipe. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The hornpipe was entered into the 1821 music manuscript copybook of musician John Burks under the title "Peacock's Feathers." Unfortunately nothing is known of Burks or where he came from, save that he was a fiddler (as evident from the manuscript). He may have been from the north of England, judging by some of the contents of his ms.

Source for notated version: Winston Fitzgerald (Cape Breton), who had the tune from Köhler’s Violin Repository [Cranford].

Printed sources: Cranford (Winston Fitzgerald), 1997; p. 2. Laybourn (Köhler’s Violin Repository vol. 2), 1881-1885; p. 116
