"Peas on the Hearth" is a member of a large tune family that includes "Bímíd ag Ól (1)," "Dance Light for My Heart Lies Under Your Feet," "Humors of Parteen (The)," "Humors of Purteen (The)," "Humors of Panteen (The)," "Whip the Cat from under the Table," "Foxy Mary (1)," "Huish the Cat," "Gilibeart Mhac Fhlannchadha," "Bemthe Goal, Uis an Cat," "Drive the Cat from Under the Table." The first strain is also shared with the jig "Rising Step (The)" in O'Neill's Waifs and Strays of Gaelic Melody (1922).
