PEASCOD TIME. AKA and see "Hunt is Up (The) (When the Cock He Crows)." English, Ballad Air. By the end of the sixteenth century the air "The Hunt is Up" was known by this title, which means the time when the field-peas are gathered. Under this "Peascod" title the tune was appropriated by two other famous ballads, "Lady's Fall (The)" and "Chevy Chase." See note for "annotation:Hunt is Up (The)" for more.
