PETER REID. AKA - "Peter Reid Esq., Kinardy." Scottish, Strathspey. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. ”Composed by a Gentleman, of whose numerous acts of experienced humanity, the Author of this Collection shall ever retain the most lively sensations of gratitude.” So noted William Morrison, in whose c. 1813 collection this tune was printed in. It seems likely that the "Gentleman" was Major H.R. Duff, the probable patron of fiddle-composer William Morrison, who composed tunes for every one of Duff's family (see note for "annotation:Mr. H.R. Duff's Favorite" for more).
