PIED DU MOUTON, LE (The Mutton Foot). French-Canadian, Reel. Canada, Québec. A Major. AEac# tuning (fiddle). From the Riendeau family of Berlin, New Hampshire. Pied du Mouton is the name of a type of mushroom, but was also the name of a popular and famous play, written and produced in 1806 by Alphonse Martainville along with actor César Ribié, which had to do with fairies and the fantastical. It was much imitated through the 19th century.
