PIPER'S WEDDING [1], THE (Bainis an Phíobaire). AKA and see "Cathcart's Favourite," "Carton's Reel (2), "Galway Rambler (The)." Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. A variant of the large "Galway Rambler (The)" tune family. Source Fennell had no name for the tune and Brendan Breathnach took the title from Hardebeck’s collection (ii, p. 21). He notes that T. Magilligan, of County Fermanagh, called it “Cathcart's Favourite,” and that it appears in a Limerick manuscript as “Carton's No. 2 Reel.”
