POINTE NOIRE TWO-STEP. Cajun, Two-Step (4/4 time). USA, southwestern Louisiana. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. Raymond Francois (1990) remarks that La Pointe Noire (named becuase a point of woods in the area near Richard looks dark or black when viewed from the north) was the site of an old forge. It "had a reputation for some terrible knife fights in the old days; it was the sort of place you would visit only if you were invited. This area produced many fine musicians."
