POSSUM SOP. Old-Time. The title appears in a list of traditional Ozarks Mountains fiddle tunes compiled by musicologist/folklorist Vance Randolph, published in 1954. It is possibly the same as the play-party "Possum Sop and Polecat Jelly" collected by Randolph from Lillian Short and published in his Ozark Folksongs vol. 3, Humorous & Play Party (1946). It is a cognate of the "Black Eyed Susie/Kitty Puss" family of tunes.
