PRESIDENT GRANT'S HORNPIPE. American, New England; Hornpipe. B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The composition is credited to Harry Carleton in Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883), as are a number of other compositions in the volume. Nothing is definitively known about Carleton, and the name may have been a pseudonym.
