QUADRILLE CANADIEN -- 5ÈME PARTIE. AKA and see "Gypsy Hornpipe (1)," "Quadrille de campagne -- 5ème partie," "Quadrille du peuple 5ème partie," "Reel de Ste-Blandine (2)," "Reel du chômage." French-Canadian, Reel (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABB'B". Soucy researcher Jean Duval finds that Soucy recorded the tune several times under different titles (with slightly different second strains), but that it is the 5th part of a quadrille in all cases. When Soucy recorded the tune in 1928 with Donat LaFleur (released on 78 RPM in 1929) he added a third part to the tune. The tune is often known by the title "Reel de Ste-Blandine (2)" nowadays. See also Don Messer's later version, "Gypsy Hornpipe (1)" (parts reversed) as well as J.O. LaMadeleine's "Reel à Ti' père (2)."
