QUADRILLE DES MONTAGNARDS LAURENTIENS. AKA and see "4e partie Quadrille des Montagnards," "Casse-Cordes," "Galope des Montagnards Laurentiens," "Montagnards Laurentiens (2)," "Quadrille Lancier," "Troubadours de Loretteville." French-Canadian, Quadrille (whole time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The popular group The Montagnards Laurentiens =broadcast on CHRC for decades (1931-1962) in the plumb prime-time hour of Saturday 9PM-10PM. The show featured traditional dance music interspersed occasionally with a song, joke, and comic sketch, chivied along by a broadcast studio radio host. Originally the group were a quartet (Paul Drolet, Henri Émond, Bill Harris, Charles-Henri Harris--three fiddles and a guitar), but by the 1940's they had added accordions, a piano, bass, saxophone and clarinet, often totaling 10 members, with a line up that was fluid and changing.
