QUICK STEP [57]. Scottish, March (6/8 time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. This untitled Quick Step can be found in Thomas Calvert's Collection of Marches & Quicksteps, Strathspeys & Reels (1799), directly under the "Cubie March," and is perhaps meant to be associated with it in a 'march and quick step' combination. Calvert, as the cover of his collection states, was a musician of Kelso, Scotland, in the Borders region whose collection could be purchased at a music shop in town, or at Calvert's house, "Where may be had a Variety of Music and Instruments, Instruments lent out Tun'd and Repaired."
