RANNOCH LODGE. Scottish, Strathspey. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB (Athole): AABB (Kerr). James Stewart-Robertson credits William MacLeish with the composition in his Athole Collection (1884). Rannoch Lodge is on Loch Rannoch in Perthshire and was the site of a British army barracks in the years following the Jacobite defeat at Culloden (1745), established to quell the last remnants of the rebellion and secure the populace. The main building was converted from a barracks into a shooting lodge between 1798 and 1803.
