The melody and dance directions appear earliest in London publisher John Walsh's The Compleat Country Dancing-Master (1731), republished by Walsh in later volumes. It was also published by John Johnson in Wright's Compleat Collection of celebrated country Dances (1740), edited by London dancing master Daniel Wright.
