RAY’S CLASSIC. AKA – "North Cregg," “Race Classic (The),” "Roy's Session," "Willie Hunter's." Scottish, Reel; Irish, Polka. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA’BB’. The tune was adapted from a reel by the late Shetland composer and fiddler Willie Hunter Jr. (1933-1994), who called it “Ray’s Classic,” after a friend’s car (a title corrupted sometimes to "Race Classic"). It has been converted to a polka popular with Sliabh Luachra musicians and as a session tune.
