RECONCILIATION, THE ("An Reiteacad" or "An Reidteact"). AKA and see “Humphrey's Hornpipe (2),” "Humphrey's Reel," “Olive Branch Hornpipe.” Irish, Canadian, American; Hornpipe or Reel. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Francis O’Neill probably sourced this tune (as he did a a number of others) from Boston publisher Elia Howe's Ryan’s Mammoth Collection (1883), where it appears as a hornpipe under the title “The Olive Branch” (a title that is, points out Paul de Grae, the source for O’Neill’s “Reconciliation” tune name).
