RED RIVER RISING. Old-Time. The title could refer to the Little Red River, Arkansas. It is just possible that it references a Native North American uprising in the Red River region of Western Canada in the late 1800's. The title appears in a list of traditional Ozarks Mountain fiddle tunes compiled by musicologist/folklorist Vance Randolph, published in 1954.
