REEL DE LA RIVIÈRE-AUX-RENARDS. French-Canadian, Reel (cut time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABCC'. Rivière-aux-renards is a village on the eastern end of the Gaspé peninsula, now part of the town of Gaspe. It was settled in the 1790's by French-Canadian and Irish families. Isidore Soucy (1899-1962) recorded the tune twice in 1936, for both Victor (on their Bluebird label) and Starr records; unusually, he used the same title for the tune for both recordings.
