REEL DES ACCORDÉONISTES. French-Canadian, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCC (AABC for contra dances). "Le Reel des accordéonistes" is usually credited to Marcel Messervier, an accordion player and maker from Montmagny, Québec, who is said to have composed it for the 1981 Mariposa Festival in Toronto. However, Quebec accordion player Frank Sears records that the tune was in the repertoire of the influential group Les Montagnards Laurentiens, immensely popular in the province in the mid-20th century, and only popularized by Messervier.
