REEL DES POILUS, LE. French-Canadian, Reel (cut time). B Flat Major (Soucy): A Major (Remon/Bouchard). Standard (Soucy) or AEae tuning (fiddle). AA’BB. A ‘crooked’ tune from the playing of Isidore Soucy (who recorded it in 1940); both strains have a measure with an extra beat. "Reel du capitaine (2) (Le)", recorded two years prior to Soucy's "Reel des poilus", uses a similar melodic theme in the first few bars.
