"Reel of the Mearns" was composed by biography:William Christie (1778-1849), a dancing master, postman, fiddler-composer and song collector from Cuminestown, Aberdeenshire. According to the Dictionary of the Scots Language, Mearns refers tothe eastern county of Scotland now officially known as Kincardineshire, lying between the rivers Dee and North Esk.
