N:Lady Saltoun was Catharine Thurlow, the spouse of Alexander Fraser, 17th Lord N:Saltoun, (1785-1853), a career soldier who say honorable service in the Napoleonic N:Wars and the First Opium War. She was the daughter of Lord Chancellor N:Edward Thurlow, a Tory politician and lawyer who served under four Prime N:Ministers. She married Saltoun in 1815 and died in 1826 without issue. The reel was composed by biography:William Christie (1778-1849), a dancing master, fiddler-composer, song collector and postman from Cuminestown, Aberdeenshire. Lady Saltoun was Catharine Thurlow, the spouse of Alexander Fraser, 17th Lord Saltoun, (1785-1853), a career soldier who saw honorable service in the Napoleonic Wars and the First Opium War. She was the daughter of Lord Chancellor Edward Thurlow, a Tory politician and lawyer who served under four Prime Ministers. She married Saltoun in 1815 and died in 1826 without issue.
