RIPON SQUADRON. English, March (2/4 time). England, Yorkshire. G Major ('A' part), E Minor ('B' part) & D Major ('C' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). ABC. Ripon is a town in Yorkshire. The Ripon Squadron was a Troop of mounted yeomanry (part of the Yorkshire Hussars) first raised in 1794 for the Wars with France, disbanded in 1802 with the Peace of Amiens, and reformed later that year. The colors of their pelisses and shakos changed over the years, and their chief duty in source Leadley's time seems to have been assembling each year for a week of training and review. There was a band attached to the Yorkshire Hussars.
