ROANOKE. Old-Time, Breakdown. USA, Nebraska. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Written and recorded by Bill Monroe in 1954. Collector R.P. Christeson thought the tune was not very well known in the mid-west, and that the name was doubtful. Christeson thought his source, 'Uncle' Bob Walters, probably learned it from hearing it on the radio.
