ROCK OF MUFF. AKA - “Star of Munster”? Irish. Ireland, Co. Cavan. Patrick O’Leary, a correspondent with Francis O’Neill, wrote of a trip with a piper named Critchley where “Rock of Muff” was played and said it was a great favorite in County Cavan. It was named after the high plateau-topped rock near Kingscourt, on which an annual Feis was held [O’Neill, Irish Minstrels and Musicians, Chapter 24, 1913]
