ROLAND'S RETURN. Irish, Double Jig (6/8 time). D Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The first strain jig is shared with a member of a tune family the includes "Humors of Castlelyons (The)," "Patrick Maloney's Favorite," and "Rambling Pitchfork (The)." Collector Frank Roche reproduced a nearly identical version of mid-19th uilleann piper, collector and cleric James Goodman's "Rambling Pitchfork (The)," also set in D minor. Other versions of "Rambling Pitchfork" can be found in major mode, but with the same or similar melodic contour. The first strain is shared with an even more extended tune family (See "Judy McFadden's"). See also O'Neill's "Killashandra Lasses (The)."
