ROLL HER IN THE RUSHES [1]. AKA and see "Aisghairm na hAontachta,” "Emyvale (The)," "Gurtaglanna Reel," "Jackson's Maid (3)," "Kate Gaynor's Fancy," "Peel of the Onion," "Repeal of the Union (1)." Irish, Reel. D Major/Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB’. Kerr presents the piece in two sharps with an accidental at the last bar of the first strain. Versions of the melody can be found in dorian, mixolydian, mixed mode and major tonalities, but perhaps sounds best to modern ears when played throughout in the mixolydian mode. The reel is usually known as "Repeal of the Union (1)." Rev. Luke Donnellan's Oriel region, south Armagh, reel "Jackson's Maid (3)" is a cognate melody, a bit distanced.
