ROPE WALTZ, THE. AKA and see “Orcadian Waltz.” Scottish, Waltz (3/4 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. The tune may have originated in the Orkney Islands (Christine Martin, for example, includes it in her section of Orkney melodies). Scottish bandleader Jimmy Shand recorded it on a 78 RPM as “Orcadian Waltz.” Fr. John Quinn finds "The Rope Waltz" to be a version of the popular country dance tune “Perfect Cure (The).”
