"A Round O" was entered into the music manuscript copybook of Northumbrian musician Henry Atkinson of Hartburn. The tune was published as "The Resolution or The Quaker's Grace" by Henry Playford in his Dancing Master 13th edition (1706), and was retained in subsequent editions through the 18th and final in 1728.
