Donal O'Sulliven (1983) also found a note to the tune in Bunting's manuscripts )MS 33, bk 3, p. 53) "Is truancy nigh feckan mo graph. I do not see my love coming in a boat. I'm sorry I do not see my love. From B.B. From the County Mayo."

Source for notated version: - the index of the Irish collector Edward Bunting's 1840 collection gives that the tune was obtained from Mrs. Fitzgerald at Westport, County Mayo, in 1802.
