SANDY MACDONALD'S FAVOURITE. Scottish, Strathspey (whole time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'B. Sandy MacDonald was fiddler from the Isle of Skye who had some renown in the 19th century. The editor of the Skye Collection, Keith Norman MacDonald (), mentions him on p. 112 of his MacDonald Bards from Mediaeval Times (Edinburgh, 1900):

...until we come down to the famous Sandy MacDonald, of Skye, who also composed some songs, as well as having been a splendid violinist of Scotch music.
