SEAMUS MACNEIL. Scottish, March (6/8 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCDD’. Composed by bandleader and accordion player Bobby MacLeod (1925-1991) of Mull. The first six bars of the tune migrated to the 5th part of “Jig of Slurs,” by 19th century piper G.S. MacLennan of the Gordon Highlanders. MacLennan composed his tune as a four-part tune, and MacLeod first recorded his tune in the early 1950’s, so the ‘extra’ part is a modern addition to “Jig of Slurs.”
