SELENGER'S ROUND [2]. AKA and see "Beginning of the World (The)." English, Country Dance Tune (6/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'. This jig, along with instructions for a country dance, was first published by London music publisher John Playford in his Dancing Master 3rd edition (1657) and was retained in the long-running Dancing Master series through the 8th edtion of 1690. Commencing with the Dancing Master 4th edition (1670) "Beginning of the World" was added as an alternate title.
