SET CANADIEN 3ÈME PARTIE. AKA and see "Delaware Lady," "Reel de Noël no. 2," "Reel des patineurs," "Reel des rentiers (Le) (Le)." French-Canadian, Reel (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Ethnomusicologist Jean Duval finds that the melodies for Montreal fiddler Joseph Alex Donato's (1885-1948) three-part "Set canadien" series were taken from Harding’s Collection of Jigs, Reels and Country Dances, first published in New York in 1891 and republished several times thereafter. Donato's "Set canadien 3ème partie" is an untitled reel in the Harding collection, No. 82, although later on in the collection Harding gives the title as "Delaware Lady." This quadrille or cotillion part was covered by fiddler Albert Allard fourteen years after J. Alex Donato recorded it in 1924. Both recordings were released on the Starr label, although Allard's title was "Reel des rentiers (Le)." Sherbrooke, Québec, fiddler T-Blanc Richard issued a recording of the tune under the title "Reel de Noël no. 2," while Tommy Duchenes recorded his version as "Reel des patineurs" (Skaters' Reel).
