SHANE'S FANCY.AKA and see "Mr. Shaw's Jig." English, Jig (6/8 time). England, Northumberland. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune was printed in the mid-20th century by the Northumberland Piper's Society in a collection by members Alan Hall and W.J. Stafford. A close version of the tune was printed more seventy years prior to that in Elias Howe's Musician’s Omnibus Nos. 6 & 7 (Boston, 1880-1882, p. 602), where it appears as "Mr. Shaw's Jig" in a section of contra dances. Where Howe obtained the tune is not known.
