SHEEP AND HOGS WALKING THROUGH THE PASTURE. AKA - "Sheep and Cows Walking through the Pasture," "Sheeps and Hogs going to Pasture." American, Reel (cut time). USA, northeastern Ky. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABA'B. There are distant similarities in the first strain with Burl Hammons' similarly-titled tune "Hogs and Sheep Going to the Pasture," but they are different tunes. A similarly titled tune ("Sheep and Cows a-walking through the Pasture") was also in the repertoire of Roscoe Parish (1897-1984) of Galax, Carroll County, southwest Virginia, but it is also an unrelated melody, being a variation of "Jimmy Sutton."
