SHETLAND WEDDING--GRAND MARCH. Shetland, March (6/8 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The grand march "Shetland Wedding" was composed by Tom Georgeson, a member of the Islesburgh Dance band along with with band-leader, teacher, composer and collector wikipedia:Tom_Anderson_(fiddler) (1910-1991). The group played for community club dances around the country districts of Shetland in the 1950's and early 1960's. Georgeson, along with Anderson, was also appointed co-editors of the Shetland Book of Fiddle Music project, and the two produced "Da Mirrie Dancers" in 1970, published by the Shetland Folk Society. As well, Georgeson sang at most of the Social Evenings held by the Shetland Folk Society at the time.
