SHULE AROON [1] (Siubal a rún). AKA - "Shule agra." AKA and see "Alone in crowds to wander on," "I wish I was on yonder hill," "Siúl a ghrá.” Irish, Air (4/4 time, "plaintively"). D Minor/Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Thomas Moore used the air for two of his songs, "I wish I was by that dim lake" and "Alone in crowds to wander on." "I wish I were on yonder hill" is the first line of another song set to the air, famous in America and Ireland (see "Shule Aroon (2)" for more).
