SILLY BIT CHICKEN. Scottish. The name of one of the first historically recorded reels from Scotland, though the music does not survive. The title appears in a 1591 account of a witchcraft trial in which the accused danced this reel on Halloween, to the music of a piper (See also "Cummer, go ye before"). They were burned (Alburger, 1983).
