SILVER MINES [3], THE. Irish, Jig (6/8 time). D Major (Cooke, O'Farrell): F Major (Hughes). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB (Cooke, Hughes): AABBCCDDEE (O'Farrell). An early version of the tune can be found in Dublin musician, music seller, and instrument maker Bartholomew 'Bartlett' Cooke's 1796 collection of country dances. "O'Farrell's setting was entered into the mid-19th century music manuscript copybook of County Cork uilleann piper and Church of Ireland cleric James Goodman [1].
