Admiral Sir Reginald John James George Macdonald (1820-1899) was a Royal Navy officer who was appointed Second-in-Command of the Channel Fleet in 1872 and went on to be Commander-in-Chief, East Indies Station. From 1873 he became the 21st chief of the Clan Macdonald of Clanranald. He retired in 1884, the year this reel was published in The Athole Collection.
