SNEEM POLKA, THE. AKA and see “Knocknabower Polka (2)," "Knocknaboul Polka (2)." Irish, Polka (2/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB (Deloughery): AABB’CC’. The polka, which has a variety of titles, was recorded under as "Sneem Polka" by Kerry fiddler Denis Murphy in New York on a Celtic label 78 RPM. In his 1969 album, recorded with his sister, fiddler Julia Clifford ("The Star above the Garter", Claddagh CC5CD), it appears as the second tune of the set "Knocknaboul Polkas." Sneem is a village situated on the Iveragh Peninsula in County Kerry, located on the estuary of the River Sneem in southwest Ireland.
