SONG OF THE BLACKBIRD. Irish, Air (4/4 time). A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. In Irish folklore the melodious blackbird was the harbinger of good tidings, a good omen, unlike the crow, raven or rook which often portended misfortune. "Mr. MacGowan traced the history of this air for at least a hundred years" (Joyce).
